A few years ago I discovered one of the most magical flower gardens that I've ever visited. Every kind of rose and lily grows alongside potted geraniums under the palm-filtered sun. Nestled across from Butterfly Beach on the grounds of the Biltmore Hotel Santa Barbara, this little garden is always populated with faerie-like butterflies and springtime hummingbirds.
Since we just launched our delicate Firehouse Pinot Noir, I thought it only appropriate to celebrate at my favorite picnic spot. You wouldn't know it now, but a year ago all of this was covered in two feet of mud from the Montecito 1/9 Debris Flow. We couldn't access this area for months. Now it is restored and it is only appropriate to bring a bit of Montecito Wine Company here. A percentage of each bottle purchase is donated to help rebuild not only Montecito, but many other communities that face similar natural disasters. It's one thing we work so hard on every day.
There is a beautiful fountain in the middle of this garden. Once, I made a wish in the fountain. I can't tell you what I wished for, but let's just say it came true...
If you're ever in Montecito I hope to see you in the garden making wishes...
